Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) is a severe form of Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) which means that PMDD has no connection with menstrual period and/or period side effects but PMDD is closely connected to PMS.
PMDD is a mood disorder associated with the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle. Actually the PMDD is premenstrual syndrome that is so severe that it can be debilitating due to either physical, mental or emotional symptoms.
According to medical statistics the PMDD can affect about 5% of menstruating women. Both PMDD and PMS share symptoms in common that include depression, anxiety, tension, irritability, tiredness and severe mood swings. In most cases PMDD is very disruptive and could have very negative effect on women health and women life.
