I had unprotected sex during ovulation period and now I cannot understand if I am having my period or it is already implantation bleeding. What is difference between implantation bleeding and period?

Women health is pretty complicated especially during pregnancy. Sometimes you could have unusual short period and sometimes you could have implantation bleeding instead of your regular period (especially if you had unprotected sex during ovulation!)
First difference between your regular period and implantation bleeding is timing. Usually your period comes every 28-30 days and if you always had regular periods, this time your period should come at the same time. But implantation bleeding could appear ONLY after fertilization - on average between 6 to 12 days past ovulation (on average about 9 days after ovulation).
REMEMBER - in ordinary situation your period appears always after 14 days after ovulation which means there was not fertilization and you cannot be pregnant.
Second difference between your regular period and implantation bleeding is type of bleeding.

Regular period - by the end of your menstrual cycle usually the thickened uterine lining and extra blood are shed through the vaginal canal. Duration and intensity of the menstruation may not be the same every month, every season and it may not be the same as other girls and women's periods. Intensity of the periods can be light, moderate or heavy and the length of the period also varies. In general, most regular periods last 3-5 days, sometimes periods can last 2-7 days which is also normal.
At the same time the implantation bleeding is just a vaginal discharge which usually contains a small amount of pinkish or brownish blood. Only about a third of pregnan women experience implantation bleeding.Sometimes the implantation bleeding is usually spotting - it is scanty, pinkish and not red and heavy like a period. Usually it lasts 1-2 days.
Implantation bleeding time is before you expect your period and many people mistaken it for spotting before their period begins. As mentioned before, most women do not experience a full on bleeding with implantation. Instead, they may experience a bit of spotting in their panties or even some pinkish or brown discharge. This is usually not a typical menstrual bleeding color flow. If you had period-kind of bleeding - better to assume that you have your ordinary period. If you happen to get a positive pregnancy test and you are experiencing a flow of blood you better visit your doctor for avoiding miscarriage or any other
complications.
